Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Cv. Variegated “Purple Nebula” is a striking collector cultivar admired for its deep purple tones that blend across the ribs with contrasting green variegated sections. The shifting coloration often resembles swirling cosmic clouds, giving the plant its name “Purple Nebula.”
Variegation occurs when sections of the plant produce reduced chlorophyll. This natural mutation creates dramatic color contrasts ranging from pale green to deep reddish-purple depending on light exposure and maturity. As the plant develops, the colors may intensify and shift, giving each specimen a unique and evolving appearance.
