Description
Astrophytum Ornatum Cv. Kikko is a highly sought-after cultivar known for its dramatically protruding tubercles, armored appearance, and powerful architectural form.
Unlike standard Astrophytum ornatum, which develops relatively straight ribs, the Kikko form produces pronounced protrusions along the ribs. In Ornatum, the term Kikko refers to raised tubercles that segment the ribs into bold, geometric structures, creating a three-dimensional appearance that becomes increasingly dramatic with age.
The individual tubercles often develop sharp, angular points that project outward from the stem, giving the plant an almost prehistoric or dragon-like appearance. Combined with the species' naturally vigorous columnar growth, mature specimens become striking statement plants unlike any ordinary Ornatum.
