Astrophytum Asterias Cv. Kikko 'Lizard Skin' Spotted is an unusual expression of Asterias prized for its heavily textured body, irregular Kikko segmentation, and distinctive reptile-like surface appearance.
Unlike the smoother ribs of standard Asterias, the Kikko trait creates horizontal segmentation across the ribs. In this 'Lizard Skin' selection, that segmentation becomes especially irregular and textured, breaking the surface into raised, uneven sections that give the plant its characteristic rugged appearance.
The 'Lizard Skin' name describes the visual effect created as these segmented areas develop across the body. The combination of folds, raised sections, and changing rib geometry produces a surface reminiscent of textured reptile skin, with the expression becoming increasingly noticeable as the plant matures.
